The Centre for Sustainable Agrifood Systems (START) is a science-driven, academic and multi-disciplinary research community that enables basic research collaboration within the field of sustainable Agrifood Systems. The community comprises a joint effort by researchers from the united Danish universities.
START was founded by the united Danish Universities giving the centre a national scope and access to laboratories throughout the country. These universities include:
START is based on a distributed governance model operated by the START Steering Committee under a rotation chair principal. This means that START is organisationally decentralised and that the position of Chair of the Steering Committee rotates between the universities.
START is managed by a joint administrative support team with local administrative support at the individual university.
